Our bodies have a memory as well. They never forget and nothing ever slips by them. Beside physical sensations, our feelings are also stored in our physical body.

Unless expressed and processed, our emotions remain blocked in certain parts of our body. These stored emotions are connected with memories and beliefs from the past. They are the source of many diseases, discomfort and chronic pain. The body communicates with us through pain, diseases and other emotions. In order to heal and reach comfort, we need to listen and feel our body.

The body is the most accurate way of reaching blocked emotions and traumatizing memories. It is also the key in releasing these emotions. Movement, sound, felt sense, self-touch and certain guided breathing techniques are proven to be successful in regulating the disturbed nervous system. A regulated nervous system offers the individual a quality life to enjoy.

 

These techniques can be learnt. Rather than relying on outside sources, you can empower yourself by learning how to use your inner resources and liberate yourself.

Semra’s work is like cleaning a deep wound— not easy, but essential to full recovery.

 

Unexpressed emotions, depressed in the body, have been sending me periodic jabbing pain signals since a car accident in 2008. Before the accident, there were also depressed childhood neglect and abandonment emotions that hadn’t been fully or even acutely expressed. The result was pain, addiction, depression, and fear. The combination of the two types of trauma (childhood neglect combined with a physical impact trauma from a car accident) made it difficult to discern how and when I was healing. There were different inner holding patterns for each, making the symptoms and signals difficult to recognize or tend to. 

 

During the first three biodynamic breath work sessions with Semra, I started noticing frozen emotions and slowly began releasing the grief and anger from childhood (as authentic words, sounds, and movements) which allowed me to recover discernment in my body. That discernment led to disentangling myself from the trauma. The post-session integration process shifted how I felt, thought, and behaved as healthy boundaries naturally formed as part of recovering my authentic self.

 

During the fourth breathwork session Semra was able to help me move through the jabbing pain from the car accident and release it as movement and emotion that had been thwarted since the violence of the accident. 

 

Semra is able to recognize how pain wants to move through the body, and assists by guiding the particpant’s capacity for self-resourcing, a process that releases emotions and movements previously frozen or not completely expressed (trauma). It has been my experience during sessions with Semra that she tunes into my process and stays committed by guiding me toward accessing my inner resources that are, as it turns out, stronger than the trauma.

 

Semra ensures there is enough time to integrate during the session, and provides aftercare if necessary. She is a safe and healthy individual who has supported my process of recovery from addiction and chronic pain. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for well-guided trauma release.
